Main student event of Poster Festival Ljubljana ‘09 is a workshop for students from partner Academies. The workshop will take place at Academy of Fine Arts and Design Ljubljana between 12th and 14th May 2009. The theme for the Workshop is Climate Change as the main topic of the Festival.

The partners of Brumen Foundation are university-level design institutions in Groningen, Helsinki, Warsaw, Zagreb and Ljubljana.

Our future depends on each and every one's awareness.
Today it is time to think aboutwhat we can change and how we must interactwith nature around us. The theme for the Workshop is Climate Change as the main topic of the Festival.

Exhibition opening and announcement of winners on May 16, 2009 at 7:30PM at Jakopič Gallery. The exhibition will be open till 5th June, 2009.

Workshop

Subject: climate change.
Goal: creative raising of socio-political awareness about the current difficult conditions of nature preservation.
Place: University of Ljubljana, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Dolenjska cesta 83, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Date: 12 – 14 May, 2009.
Participants: students of the partner academies:
Minerva Academy at the Hanze University of Groningen, University of Art and Design Helsinki, Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana, Academy of Fine arts in Warsaw, and the School of Design at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb.

Created posters will be displayed at the exhibition, presented in the catalogue and web gallery and will become a courtesy of Brumen Foundation.

Goals

To communicate to the world the important socio-political messages about the critical ecological situation in the world, using posters as the medium.

Judging criteria

The jury will adhere to criteria based on: creativity, originality, aesthetics, communicability and excellence of execution.

Work

Posters in the workshop will be created by hand with no aid of computers. You will be allowed to use photocopy machines for enlargements.
Participants should bring the following equipment : paper scissors and drawing/painting utensils (brushes, pens, indian inks, coal, colour pencils, pastels, oil pastels etc). Temperas, paper, cardboards, tracing paper, drawing pads and glues will be provided.
Posters will be presented in laminated form.
The size of the posters is 400 x 600 mm (vertical or horizontal).

Timetable

Day one: 12 May, 2009 at 9.30 am
Workshop hours: 9.30 am-1.30 pm and 2.30 pm-7.30 pm
Lunch break: 1.30 pm-2.30 pm
Last day: 14 May, 2009 at 6.30 pm
Each poster should have completed application form taped (not glued!) at the back upper right corner of the poster. The applications will be provided by the organizers.

Copyrights

All posters will become a courtesy of Brumen Foundation; they will be displayed at the exhibition, presented in the catalogue and Festival's web gallery, where they will be available to non-government/government EU institutions for only transmission costs.
Application form data will be used in the workshop catalogue.
The organizer has the right to use the posters for promotional and publishing purposes without a special consent of the author.
The organizer is also allowed to reproduce and distribute the posters in the catalogue and in other printed media, on the internet and in any other electronic form.
By signing the application form you fully agree with the terms of participation.

Important!

The posters must contain (as a title and/or other text) the words Climate Change and/or Global Warming. You can use additional texts and/or images (Ecology,Earth, Climate, Warming etc.) for collage as an important part of your communication.
You should attend the workshop prepared in advance, with completed sketches of the poster(s) in order to complete your work within the workshop period.
