Awareness of the ecological situation in which we find ourselves in the 21st century is just one step, but it is the first one. An edifying future depends on the individual and on our common consciousness about what we can improve and how we must act in the future. We are facing two tasks: mitigation of the extent of climate change and the necessary adaptation. Mitigation of climate change is the biggest environmental, developmental, political and ethical challenge humankind is faced with. The Eco debate of the Poster Festival Ljubljana ’09 does not give solutions, but merely wishes to initiate a discussion on a very burning problem we are witnessing every day.

The debate about climate change and sustainable development will host acclaimed experts in various fields (sociology, spatial planning, geography, ecology) and representatives of ministries and development institutions.
